30-Oct-2006 - Two live archive additions to2005 gigs: Jeff Pando lets us use his pics of the89x Birthday Bash/Detroit and Andy Guntonsent us his Hastings Observer review of the Hastings Beer Festival. Thanks a lot!

29-Oct-2006 - Just updated the two London gigsin the live archive and we now have setlists & picsfor the complete UK tour... although it took sometime because we had to change our database to holdmore than 20 songs. When we first discussed thedatabase size Keane were playing about 13 songs pergig and we couldn't imagine over 20 songs... well, howtimes change, at the Hull gig Keane played 21 songs!Anyway, now we have space for 30 songs andwe'll wait and see how far this will go ;-)Thanks to everyone who has contributed!
You can still vote for Keane at the MTV EMA 2006!Simply click here, choose your country & click on 'vote'.You can vote for Keane in two categories, 'Group' & 'Rock'.(thanks Stell for the reminder)

Well...

We're gonna publish the Keane's Biography,ok?

The band was formed in 1995, by Tim Rice - Oxley ( voice, bass guitar ), Dominic Scott ( guitar and voice) and Richard Hughes ( drums ).

In 1997, Tom Chaplin ( voice and guitar ) joined the other members.

At this same time, they introduced the keyboard as an instrument.

In the next year, they decided to change to London.

In February 2000, they published their first single “ Call Me What You Like ” and in June 2001 “ Wolf At The Door ”.

Due to the lack of success and musical differences, Dominic leaves the band.

After the shock and some time without concerts, time that the members took to think about the sound of the band, they went back on to thestage.

In December 2002, with no guitars and with the piano of Tim as the main instrument, they are invited to record for Fierce Panda label.

The results are the singles “ Everybody's Changing ” and “ This is The Last Time ”.

After the success of these hit singles, the band signs with Island Records in September 2003, and, in May of the following year, theypublish their "debut" album “ Hopes and Fears ”.

The second album “ Under the Iron Sea ” was published in 12 June 2006 worldwide.
Some curiosities....

About Rich Hughes:

  • The song "Put It Behind You" was written for him.
  • His favourite Keane song is "Bend and Break"
  • He is a vegetarian
  • His favourite colour is Blue
  • "i love mushrooms and cheese, often together.";

His quotes:

  • "(When asked about his personal life) I'm the drummer in Keane, why would anyone give a shit?"
  • "To be fair to Tim, he had to work quite hard to persuade Dominic and I to let Tom join the band. I must admit, giving someone who's already the loudest person I know a microphone wasn't something I was particularly keen on. (about Tom Chaplin)"

His Instruments:

  • Richard uses a white Marine Pearl Yamaha "Maple Custom Absolute Nouveau" kit (12" rack tom, 14" and 16" floor toms, 13" snare, 22" kick), with Sabian HHX cymbals: 14" groove hats, 21" dry ride and 18" crash; as well as a hand hammered 17" crash, a groove wedge and a tambourine. He also has used other kits for American tours, and a variety of 'shaker' percussion for acoustic shows.
  • As of 2006, it appears the tambourine has moved to Richard's left, above a new third floor tom. There is also a new type of Yamaha drum mic (thanks Tom!).

About Tim Rice-Oxley:

  • His great-great grandfather, great grandfather, grandfather, father, mother and brother are all medical doctors.
  • His car is a silver Volkswagen Golf Mark
  • His favourite color is green
  • His favourite foods are Italian and Greek.
